A lot of new concepts are about to take place in the Tennis Arena in Tuolumne County. Youth programs by Greg's Racquet Works through the concept of Quick Start Tennis. This program was developed by the USTA and PTR programs. The ages are for Five through Ten year olds by two year increments. Also for 11 to 17 years olds. The main difference between the age groups is the size of the court and the equipment used. (Racquet size and type of ball) The video for my Tiny Tike program demonstrates this concept.

In the near future we will start Adult tennis at the Summerville H.S. Courts. We have considered different formats using Monday, Wednesday, and Friday nights. Friday July 10th we will get things started with Mixed Round Robin, blind draw at 6 pm. Please bring a can of balls.

If you are interested in improving your Doubles game, please contact me. I can assist you and you partner on how to improve your doubles game. I also do it in a group lesson with six or less. If your level of play is around 3.5 or higher and your are interested in learning the Dynamite Doubles concept of playing doubles which was developed by Helle Sparre Viragh, I can do this. Dynamite Doubles usually is taught to three participants with the instructor. Then a set of doubles is played to reinforce what was taught. Usually 1 1/2 to 2 hours. My lessons are usually taught at the Summerville HS Courts but I do have access to a few other courts.

Summerville High School Foundation 4th Annual Fundraiser: Feed the Bears, on November 1, 2009 was a huge success, raising approximate $30,000.00. The Foundation received a $200,000.00 matching fund grant from the Sonora Area Foundation / Irving J Symond fund. This grant has been matched. The construction of the four new Tennis Courts next to the softball diamond has been completed. The 2009 tennis team is the first team to use the new courts. The Gift Brick fund raiser was completed and the bricks have been installed at the main public entrance opposite the softball field. They look terrific, please stop by and take a look at them. UPDATE: 4/1/09, The four new cement courts are now open to the public during non school hours and on the weekend. Parking is available behind the boys baseball field.The gates must stay locked when not in use. The public can purchase a key from the school office for $5.00. Contact Sally at 209-928-4228 Ex. 225. The key will open the two public gates opposite the softball field. The Blue and Green playing coat was completed on 5/17/08.

Twain Harte Tennis Courts, resurfacing: Twain Harte CSD plans to resurface the three tennis courts on Marquis Dr next spring. Lee Allendorf is coordinating an effort to raise a portion of the money from local tennis players who frequent the Twain Harte Courts. Please contact Lee at (209) 586-3368 for information if you would like to contribute., The court resurfacing was completed and the new blue and green courts opened on June 22nd 2007. Up date 6/28/08 The courts once again were repaired during the second week of June 2008. New benches were also added to each court.

Phoenix Lake Tennis Courts: The Phoenix Lake Courts were resurfaced this past June, 2006. If you belong to the TCCTA (Tuolumne County Community Tennis Association) you can purchased a playing membership for the courts for $125.00 annually. A new locking system and spring were installed on the entrance gate.

Columbia Tennis Courts: The Columbia Tennis Courts are scheduled to be completely rebuilt stating July 2007. with a completion date in August. The new completed courts
